CVARR's Recovery Community

Recovery grows through connection.

Recovery is personal, and everyone’s path looks different. Having people who offer encouragement, opportunities to connect, and access to support can make a meaningful difference.

At CVARR, we bring community partners together to strengthen recovery support across Central Virginia. We work to build a community where people in recovery feel welcomed, valued, and supported.

How We Support Recovery

Connecting Community Partners

CVARR brings recovery organizations, treatment providers, community groups, and individuals with lived experience together to share resources, identify needs, and strengthen local support.

Celebrating Recovery

Through events such as the Walk for Recovery, we bring people together to celebrate recovery, connect with local resources, and recognize those making a difference. These gatherings create space for hope, encouragement, and community connection.

Sharing Stories and Reducing Stigma

People’s experiences can help others feel less alone and better understand recovery. Through community conversations, awareness efforts, and our Addiction Interrupted podcast, CVARR creates opportunities to share perspectives and challenge stigma.

Supporting Life Beyond Treatment

Recovery involves everyday life, including relationships, housing, employment, and a sense of belonging. CVARR brings partners together to explore how our community can better support these needs and help people stay connected over time.

Annual Walk for Recovery

The Walk for Recovery takes place annually during September’s National Recovery Month. It celebrates those in recovery from Substance Use Disorder with a symbolic event featuring a community cookout, resources, messages of healing, a walk around the park, fostering hope, solidarity, and support for those in recovery and their loved ones.

The ReCOVEry Café (“The COVE”)

The ReCOVEry Café, located at The Connecting Point on Rivermont Avenue, provides a safe, sober social space for those in recovery. This takes place every first Friday of the month featuring a community meal, fun activities, and an engaging recovery-centered theme. Join us from 5:30-7:30 at 1216 Rivermont Ave.!
